Sheboygan County Food Bank

The 2023 holiday season kicked off with huge strides against hunger in Sheboygan County. We’re excited to share that our 6th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk fundraiser held on November 18 raised over $90,000! This puts us at over $320,000 raised across all six years. Sponsorships, registration fees, purchased apparel and gear, VIP parking passes, and donations for this event directly support Sheboygan County Food Bank’s work to make sure nutritious and fresh food reaches our neighbors in need.

Here’s the breakdown in numbers that show the inspiring commitment from our community:

  • 1,708 walkers
  • 326 runners
  • 50 groups/teams
  • 86 volunteers
  • 42 cash sponsors (local individuals and companies)
  • 14 in-kind sponsors/partners (local companies and organizations)

Thank you to the runners and walkers who joined us on the big day. With the mild temps helping make the evening comfortable, we loved seeing family, friends and coworkers banding together to take steps against hunger through Making Spirits Bright’s dazzling displays. Costumes ranged from the Grinch, to a winter snow queen, to A Christmas Story’s Ralphie decked out in the iconic pink bunny pajamas. If you missed seeing these amazing fits and/or want to look for captured memories of you and your squad, check out our talented volunteer photographers’ photos here.

The generosity we received from local businesses, individuals, and organizations made this event possible. We’re grateful for our dedicated volunteer committee members who helped staff plan throughout the year and day-of-event volunteers who assisted with packet pickup and gear check, made sure cars were safely parked at parking lots, passed out water to runners, guided participants along the course, and those who helped us set up and take down equipment and supplies. Special thanks to our Event Sponsor (Making Spirits Bright), top sponsors (Acuity, Johnsonville, Kohler Company, WLKN – Lake 98.1, Sartori) and all of our other committed sponsors and in-kind partners.

If you couldn’t make it to the fundraiser this year and are looking for ways to give back, hosting a food drive, volunteering and donating are all great ways to help make a difference for families facing hunger in Sheboygan County.

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, November 23, 2024 will be our 7th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk. Registration will begin on our event website in August 2024.
