Since 2012, Sheboygan County Rotary Clubs have been coordinating Making Spirits Bright, a holiday lights show event that’s Sheboygan County Food Bank’s largest annual food drive. Visitors drive their vehicles through the 1.1 mile forested route of Evergreen Park to experience light displays choreographed to music. Admission to the park is free of charge, but donating nutritious food items is highly encouraged. Across the street on Fridays and Saturdays, visitors can also enjoy trolley rides, visits with Santa, wreath raffles, entertainment and concessions across the street at Santa’s Station (Quarryview Center). Making Spirits Bright is open every night November 28 – December 31 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (closed on Dec. 24).
If you’re planning on driving through, please consider purchasing and donating the items listed below to help avoid the collection of expired food, provide items that are most requested by our partner food pantries, and make sure our neighbors receive safe and nutritious food. Low-sodium, low-sugar, and light-syrup food items are preferred when possible.
- peanut butter
- canned soup
- canned tuna and canned chicken
- cereal and oatmeal
- canned fruit
- personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, etc.)
Over 1.2 MILLION pounds of donations have been collected since the event started! Learn more about our partnership.
