5th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk Registration Now Open

Registration is NOW OPEN for our 5th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk! We hope you wrangle up all of your family and friends to join us in taking against hunger through Making Spirits Bright‘s drive-through holiday lights show in Evergreen Park before it’s open to the public for the 2022 season.

Kick Off Your Holiday Season by Giving Back and Making Memories

Once again, the fifth-year event centers on an exclusive, on-foot “sneak peek” of Making Spirits Bright’s holiday lights displays. Parking will be offsite at nearby parking locations and includes a free shuttle service to and from the Quarryview Center parking lot. In 2022, shuttle routes have been revamped for shorter wait times. At least one shuttle bus will be designated to service each of the offsite parking lots by running a continuous loop from Quarryview Center parking lot and the offsite parking lot. But if you would you like to park onsite and avoid offsite parking and shuttle service, there is a limited supply of VIP Parking Passes and Courtesy Disabled Person Parking Passes – both are available to reserve through Friday, November 11. And if you would like to deck yourself out in gear to show your support, DryBlend hooded sweatshirts, knit caps, and stretch fleece headbands are available to order through Monday, November 7. You can add on the special parking passes and gear during the online registration process, or visit our online store. Shirts are also available to purchase through Monday, November 7 during online registration.

Right outside the Quarryview Center, complimentary holiday treats and refreshments will be available to grab and enjoy, and expect to see Santa make an appearance inside the Quarryview Center as he warms up for a visit to Sheboygan from the North Pole.

To add to the fun, there’s a chance to snag a goodie bag full of fun giveaways from sponsors. (This may or may not include delicious cheeses from two local businesses.) All you have to do is be one of the first 500 people who pick up their packets. The best chance to receive the goodie bag is to attend the drive-thru packet pick up option the day before the event from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday, Nov. 18 at Sheboygan County Food Bank located at 3115 N. 21 St. in Sheboygan. Cars will be routed to enter through the east side of the building and packets will be pre-assembled with race bibs, wrist bands, pins, shirts, goodie bags, and/or store items and in alphabetical order by participants’ last names.

Keep the party going after the on-foot experience through the dazzling holiday-themed light displays by stopping at 3 Sheeps Brewing. The 5K run award ceremony kicks off at 3 Sheeps following the 5k run and the after party follows with Group/Team award announcements later on. 3 Sheeps will generously donate $1 to Sheboygan County Food Bank for every print of beer sold that evening. Why This Event is Especially Important This Year

The Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk is Sheboygan County Food Bank’s primary, annual fundraiser event. In the first four years, an incredible $150,000 has been raised thanks to the generous support of sponsors, participants, and volunteers. This event is especially important in 2022 as the COVID-19 pandemic and global political climate have caused many more of our neighbors to face hunger. The United States Department of Agriculture recently reported that the price of groceries has risen more than 7% in 2022 with another 2-3% increase expected by the end of 2022. Our latest data shows that in 2022 the overall demand for emergency food in Sheboygan County has risen by 28% from 2021. Sheboygan County Food Bank is working hard to keep up with supplying partner food pantries while food prices remain high.
