DESCRIPTION:The 6th Annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk (5K run and 1-mile walk) will be taking place on Saturday\, November 18\, 2023! Take steps against hunger through Making Spirits Bright‘s iconic holiday lights show in Evergreen Park before it’s open to the public for the 2023 season. All proceeds from this event support Sheboygan County Food Bank. In the first five years of this event\, about $230\,000 has been raised. \nEVENT HIGHLIGHTS: \n\nAn exclusive\, on-foot “sneak peek” of Making Spirits Bright\nOpportunity to receive a goodie bag full of giveaways from sponsors and community partners (first 500 packets picked up beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday\, November 17 only)\nFree offsite parking and shuttle service to and from the event\nComplimentary hot beverages and cookies\nPhoto op with Santa\nProfessional race timing on accurately measured course (5K runners only)\nFree event photos courtesy of local volunteer photographers\nAward ceremony and after party at 3 Sheeps Brewing Company with a special band performance\n\nWe’re grateful for our volunteers! Volunteers help with packet pickup\, registration\, gear check\, shuttle bus stops\, water stations\, the course\, and clean up. Each volunteer will receive a Sartori BellaVitano wedge\, Sargento Balanced Break\, and one free 3 Sheeps Brewing Company beverage (redeemable on the evening of the event only) as a token of our appreciation. DESCRIPTION:Sheboygan County Rotary Clubs provide Making Spirits Bright in Evergreen Park benefiting Sheboygan County Food Bank by collecting non-perishable food and personal care items. Open every night November 26 – December 31 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (closed on Dec. 24)\, visitors can enjoy trolley rides\, visits with Santa\, wreath raffles\, entertainment and concessions across the street in the Sheboygan Jaycees Quarryview Center. \nAdmission to the iconic drive-thru holiday lights show is free of charge\, but donations are highly encouraged. About 990\,000 pounds of donations have been collected since the event started in 2012\, which means that Making Spirits Bright is on track to gather OVER 1 MILLION pounds in 2023! \nTogether\, we can make sure safe\, nutritious food and other basic necessities get to our neighbors in need. When visiting Making Spirits Bright\, please consider purchasing and donating the items listed below to help avoid the collection of expired food and provide Sheboygan County Food Bank’s most needed items. Low-sodium\, low-sugar\, and light-syrup food items are preferred when possible. Thank you! \n\npeanut butter\ncanned soup\ncanned tuna\, canned chicken\ncereal\, oatmeal\ncanned fruit\npersonal care items (shampoo\, conditioner\, toothpaste\, deodorant\, feminine products\, etc.)\n\nLearn more about our partnership. \nInterested in volunteering? Sheboygan County Food Bank’s volunteers drive a small box truck from the warehouse to Evergreen Park to help collect food donated by visitors. Then after the event is over\, volunteers drive donations back to the warehouse to unload and weigh. Volunteers must be ages 18+ and have a valid drivers license for the driver position. Residents are invited to place non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes the morning of Saturday\, May 10. Mail carriers will collect the donations while they are out on their assigned routes. \nSheboygan County Food Bank receives donations from Sheboygan\, Howards Grove\, and Kohler\, helping supply food during the summer months for our Sheboygan Cares Food Pantry\, Herb Kohler & Natalie Black Community and 40 partner organizations that all support local families facing hunger. \nHelp us reach our goal this year is to collect 35\,000 pounds of donations. Our current most needed items are: \n\nCereal/oatmeal\nCanned soup\nCanned tuna/chicken\nCanned fruit\nPasta\nPasta sauce\nPersonal care items.\n\nBe a Part of the Big Day\nDonate \n1. SUMMARY:Making Spirits Bright
DESCRIPTION:Since 2012\, Sheboygan County Rotary Clubs have been coordinating Making Spirits Bright\, a holiday lights show event that’s Sheboygan County Food Bank’s largest annual food drive. Visitors drive their vehicles through the 1.1 mile forested route of Evergreen Park to experience light displays choreographed to music. Admission to the park is free of charge\, but donating nutritious food items is highly encouraged. Across the street on Fridays and Saturdays\, visitors can also enjoy trolley rides\, visits with Santa\, wreath raffles\, entertainment and concessions across the street at Santa’s Station (Quarryview Center). Making Spirits Bright is open every night November 28 – December 31 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (closed on Dec. 24). \nIf you’re planning on driving through\, please consider purchasing and donating the items listed below to help avoid the collection of expired food\, provide items that are most requested by our partner food pantries\, and make sure our neighbors receive safe and nutritious food.
